As a medical weight loss counselor, I have helped hundreds of people lose literally tons of weight while following very restricted, doctor-supervised diets.
Now, I am bringing that experience to a more intimate setting, where you and I can work together at your pace, on a plan made up of real foods.
As your weight loss coach, I help you figure out not only what to eat and how much, but to examine your relationships, attitudes and habits in regards to eating.
Here is just a taste of what you might expect to gain from our consultations:
Deeper Understanding of Nutrition - You probably already have some basic knowledge and understanding of macronutrients, calories and some ideas about what you "should" eat. I will talk with you on your level about how your body actually works, and how certain food combinations can maximize your health, energy level, and ability to burn stored fat.
Devising Meal Plans and Scheduling - In my experience, when you eat is just as important as what you eat. I will talk with you to really get a sense of what your days are like, and then give you specific direction on how to plan your food prep and eating. Eating the right foods at the right times is what will really help you manage your weight and energy.
Learning Strategies - Eating well is not natural to most of us - it is a learned skill. There are skills and strategies that I can teach you. Then, just like learning a foreign language, or playing a musical instrument, or any worthwhile skill, you must put in the time and effort, and practice those skills on a regular basis until they become second nature to you. Even then, you have to keep using your skills, or they become rusty.
Brainstorming to Break through Barriers - Most of us have a whole grab bag of reasons, assumptions, excuses and day-to-day challenges that get in the way of eating right, being physically active and taking care of ourselves. I'm going to help you envision new routines, start new chains of thought and behavior, and "script" conversations so that you can make the time to do what you need to do to get healthy, body and soul.
Sharing Stories - I have not always been a healthy eater and cook, and I have not always been thin, although many people would assume that if they just met me. I will share with you my personal experiences with gaining and losing weight, and being an unhealthy vegetarian. And I will listen with empathy to your stories, because I believe that this type of sharing is what helps us recognize where we've been and where we can potentially go. Most of my clients, I think, would tell you that this part of the coaching is especially inspiring and meaningful.
